About ZaKa Bridge
Created by Someone Who Has Sat in Both Rooms
My Story
I am Angela Faison, Founder and Educational Director of ZaKa Bridge . I am a certified educator with a Master's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis. I have spent my career as an educator in schools and as an Educational Specialist within a major pediatric hospital system, working primarily in behavioral health clinics and specialty care settings.
Every day my job is to sit with families whose children are patients - helping them to understand what comes next for their child's education. I consult with school personnel and medical teams, make recommendations for accommodations, and try to ensure that when their child walks back through the school doors, the school is ready for them.
Most of the time, they are not.
I have watched the same failures happen over and over. A child discharged on a Friday with no school contact made before Monday. A family who couldn't speak English and couldn't navigate a singe piece of paperwork. A student who return to school and was back in the hospital within 30 days. A parent who did everything right -- and the school failed their child anyway.
ZaKa Bridge was created so those failures would stop.
